There are Seemingly an Endless Number of Great Tropical Vacation Destinations

With people excited to be traveling again, there are a number of great tropical destinations both in the U.S. and abroad that are being considered. People of all ages are attracted to great tropical destinations for a number of reasons. Some simply enjoy grabbing a towel, putting on some sunscreen, and soaking in the rays on warm, sandy beaches. Some favored activities in great tropical destinations include scuba diving, and snorkeling in beautiful waters teeming with coral, colorful fish, and other marine species.

Some of the finest golf courses in the world can be found at tropical resorts, a huge draw for some travelers who won't vacation anywhere where there are no courses nearby (avid golfers belong to a very select fraternity, after all!).Nature lovers can't get enough of all the awe-inspiring surroundings on their dream tropical getaway. There quite simply are many great tropical destinations to check out. 

1 - Riviera Maya, Mexico

This fabulous region encompasses some of the biggest 'names' in international travel to the tropics: Cozumel, Cancun, and Playa del Carmen. Along the Caribbean coast on the tip of the Yucatan peninsula, these resort destinations feature hospitality options that range from all-inclusive resorts to quaint economy bungalows. These pristine beaches welcome swimmers and snorkelers, who love sharing the crystal-clear waters with dolphins, stingrays, and other exotic creatures. For those in search of cultural enlightenment, the fabulous ancient ruins of Tulum here loom over the gorgeous Caribbean Sea.

2 - Honolulu, HI

Here in Hawaii's capital city, there is a virtually limitless number of things to see and do. Stretching from Makapuu Point to Pearl Harbor, the days can be filled with sunbathing, surfing at Waikiki Beach, swimming at one of the island's famous beaches, visiting historic landmarks, and fine dining before or after doing your shopping in world-class retail shops. Art and culture lovers can take in The Bishop Museum, Honolulu Museum of Art, and Iolani Palace.

3 - Bora Bora, Tahiti

One of the most scenic visits in the south seas, this paradise in the South Pacific is ringed with pristine beaches, clusters of coconut palms, and luxury bungalows (some with glass floor panels, enabling awestruck visitors to view the glimmering sea below). As this island is in French Polynesia, the official language here is French, and that influence is evident in their fine gourmet cuisine. Activities enjoyed by visitors include kayaking, hiking, scuba diving, and adventuresome shark dives. Bora Bora also ranks as one of the world's top honeymoon destinations.

4 - Kaua'i, HI

In terms of natural beauty, this could very well be the most gorgeous island in the world. Everywhere one looks they will spot such jaw-dropping spectacles as waterfalls, lush rainforests, and awesome green peaks, with the island altogether having been formed by volcanic activity. Nicknamed the "Garden Isle", it is the oldest and westernmost large island in Hawaii. The main tourist draw here is Waimea Canyon, one of the most scenic natural sites on Earth. While Oahu focuses a bit more on entertainment, urban, and cultural-related attractions, Kaua'i, a land of wild adventure, offers more nature-related attractions and activities.

5 - St. Barts, The Caribbean

This may be one of the most "touristy" locations on many lists, frequently playing host to mega-moguls and movie stars during peak tourist season. But outside of "star gazing", there is much to see and do here. Surrounded by sandy white beaches and towering green hills, visitors enjoy such activities as surfing, snorkeling, diving, fishing, sailing, kayaking, and other outdoor avocations. Popular beaches here are Lorient, Gouverneur Beach, and Saline Beach.
